Men's Project

Engaging Men to Prevent Exploitation and Restore Healthy Masculinity

For several years, Rotary PNW Ending Sex Trafficking has worked to increase awareness, strengthen prevention efforts, and support survivors of commercial sexual exploitation in the Pacific Northwest. Through this work, one reality has become increasingly clear: meaningful prevention must include men.

The Men’s Project is an intentional effort to engage Rotary members and other like-minded men in thoughtful, honest conversation about the cultural pressures shaping masculinity and the role men play in the demand for commercial sex.

This is not about blame; it is about leadership.

Our Approach

This initiative begins with listening.

In the coming months, we will convene small focus group discussions of 6–10 men to explore key themes related to masculinity, responsibility, and cultural influence. These facilitated workshops are designed to create a safe and constructive space for reflection, dialogue, and learning.

We will also share this work more broadly within Rotary District 5030, inviting other clubs to consider how similar conversations might take place in their communities.

Working alongside experienced facilitators who focus on cultural narratives of masculinity and the continuum of attitudes and behaviors related to exploitation, we aim to determine whether this model is useful, replicable, and scalable across Rotary and beyond.

Topics for Discussion

Preliminary themes for exploration include:

  • Raising boys to integrate sexuality into a healthy and respectful sense of self

  • Navigating internet culture and modern messaging about masculinity

  • Understanding the purchase of sex within a broader continuum of objectification

  • Examining cultural scripts that normalize harmful attitudes

  • Identifying how men can support the restoration of empathy, accountability, and moral clarity

We will continue refining these topics, including inviting insight from women in our club about what conversations would be most meaningful for men to have.

Why This Matters

Ending exploitation is not only about intervention. It is about prevention.
Prevention requires cultural change.
Cultural change requires men who are willing to lead.

The Men’s Project is an invitation to thoughtful leadership, honest conversation, and responsible action.

Let’s Work Together

Get in touch so we can start working together.

The Men’s Project begins with conversation.

We are convening small, facilitated focus groups of 6–10 men to explore cultural influences, personal responsibility, and pathways toward healthier models of masculinity.

Participation may include:

  • A brief introductory conversation with a project coordinator

  • A 2–3 hour facilitated discussion session

  • Ongoing opportunities to help shape and expand the project

If you are interested in participating or learning more, we invite you to connect with us.
